Bare knuckle fighting in 19th century America. John Lafferty is an Irish immigrant in 1850’s New York City, struggling to make his way as a prize fighter in illegal bare knuckle fights. In addition to the politics of the ring, however, are the nativist politics on the rise in the city at the time. As John looks to score a big fight, the two worlds spin closer and closer together, with disastrous consequence.
